01 Dec Banana Cabaret this weekend : Jeff Innocent, Kerry Godliman, Paul Thorne, John Hastings, Stephen Mullen
We countdown to Christmas this weekend, with a wonderful lineup of stand-up legends at Banana Cabaret this weekend.
Jeff Innocent is a popular and experienced stand up comedian, actor, writer and cultural commentator. As a stand up comedian he has reached near legendary status among his peers and audience alike by staying at the top of his game for over 15 years. His unique appeal lies in the contrast between his East End ‘Geezer’ appearance and demeanour, and his educated, philosophical delivery and subject matter. Inspiring the Guardian to describe him as a comedian with, ‘The body of a nightclub bouncer and the brains of a university boffin’.
He has also taken one man shows to The Edinburgh Fringe and is currently touring the UK with his new show, Comedy for Grown Ups and is presently writing a touring show for 2014 entitled Jeff Innocents Guide To Growing Old in the 21c. The spread of the comedy circuit globally has found Jeff performing in such unlikely and far flung locations as China, India, Norway and Viet Nam to name but a few.
His recent acting credits include appearances in the children’s TV programme, Little Howards Big Question and BBC’s extremely popular historical drama series, Call The Midwife.
As a writer he has contributed to a number of publications and websites such The Independent, The Ecologist and London Is Funny, on a wide range of topics including environmental issues, history and music. He also lectures on stand up comedy at The London Comedy School.

“A great comic who oozes personality”
BRUCE DESSAU, EVENING STANDARD
“She may present herself as just one of the girls, but this young Londoner has clearly got the potential to really stand out”
Kerry Godliman is a trained actress. Combine that with a natural propensity to make people laugh and you have one talented performer.
Kerry trained at Rose Bruford College and went on to take up acting professionally.
In 2003 she decided to branch out into stand-up comedy and made the final of the Babycham Funny Women competition, receiving a special mention.
The following year she made the final of the Hackney New Act competition finishing second.
Since then she has taken shows to Edinburgh and been on a national tour, in addition to performing at comedy clubs up and down the country.
Kerry Godliman likes to entertain the audience with anecdotes about her own personal experiences, characters she has come up against and theories about life in general.
Kerry has acted in Holby City, The Bill, Doctors, Murder In Mind, My Hero and Extras and she was a regular performer on Channel 4’s sketch show Spoons and BBC3’s Rush Hour alongside Adam Buxton, Frankie Boyle and Miranda Hart.
Kerry has also acted on film and in theatre with four films under her belt and productions of Don Juan and Les Liaisons Dangereuses.
Coming to comedy through acting, rather than the other way, Kerry Godliman has a wealth of experiences to draw from, as well as a huge array of techniques to get the most from an audience, both of which she does with the confidence of a seasoned professional.
