15 Dec Banana Cabaret 16th & 17th December : David Longley, Jen Brister, Ben Norris & Prince Abdi

David Longley

We’ve got a terrific lineup of stand-up comedy this weekend, at Balham’s “friendliest comedy club in the country”, according to Time Out.

David Longley is a difficult comedian to define; on the one hand, abrasive, crude and insulting and on the other, articulate, intelligent and disarmingly funny.

“Acid tongued and as sharp as a barrel full of tacks… As intense and intelligent performer as you’re likely to see”
– The List

Longley’s towering stage presence and intensity, combined with his cutting wit have made him one of the most popular and controversial circuit comics in the UK, whether it’s doling out thought-provoking insights or reveling in toilet humour, Longley is a gifted wordsmith with great audience interaction skills.

“Proves that comedy can say something important and, crucially, still be funny”
– Metro

David has a humble silliness which ingratiates him to audiences, he delivers deadpan accounts of his everyday life which are shockingly honest, well considered and divinely funny, maintaining a rapport with the audience that is at once edgy and accessible, engaging the whole room.

“Highly original and bloody funny”
– Three Weeks

“Intelligent, silly, thought-provoking and filthy” – Metro

Ben Norris

“a cast iron guaranteed headliner” – Londonisfunny.com “Killer gags” – The Scotsman

“truly a sight to behold” – Ed Byrne “A wonderful disgrace of a human being” – Daniel Kitson

Recently seen supporting Ed Byrne on his national tour Ben’s TV credits include “Never Mind The Buzzcocks”, “They Think It’s All Over” and “Mock The Week”.

“The term circuit legend is overused, but Norris is one of a handful that have been headlining for more than two decades and rarely departs a stage without leaving it torn to shreds in his wake. A master of the craft, this will be an hour of the most polished stand-up you are likely to see.”
GQ Magazine

“Ben Norris may not be a household name, but then very few really good comedians are these days. He has been touring steadily for the past two decades, and he’s developed a razor sharp act in the process; it’s hard to think of anyone on the circuit who works an audience with as much as much skill and flair.”
The Scotsman

“…an acerbic attitude, a well-stocked arsenal of sharp lines and the wherewithal to work any crowd make Norris one of the more engaging and enjoyable comics on the circuit”
