Tonight we have an evening of great live music from:
With her debut single Unknown Water already turning heads with over 12,000+ listens on SoundCloud and 10,000+ views of its film clip on YouTube in the first week, there’s no disputing the considerable excitement for Ella Fence’s debut EP Wanderlust. Not only did Ella record the first four tracks of this EP at the renowned Brighton Electric Studios (UK), home to the likes of artists such as The Cure and Royal Blood, with producer Dan Swift (Snow Patrol, Passenger), she then travelled to Paris to record the Bside track with Ken Stringfellow (REM, The Posies). Ella returned to the UK to produce new music with Dan Swift at Brighton Electric. While in the UK, Ella learnt from the best in the business, working with Grammy Award Winner Terry Britten (who has written with Tina Turner, Cliff Richard, Lenny Kravitz, Olivia NewtonJohn and Michael Jackson), Phil Pickett (Culture Club, Sailor), Nick Coler (who has written with Girls Aloud, Sugababes and Gabriella Cilmi) and David Lowe (TV and Radio composer for BBC). From her first musical note, played before you see a single image, your mind already wanders into a great western film scene with Nancy Sinatra as the leading lady. Ella Fence touching the senses and evoking emotion. With new music on the horizon, you don’t want to miss a step of this jetsetter’s journey.
“Gorgeous, sunstruck acoustic soul” Globe & Mail. Canada’s Reid Jamieson shines his light with an incredible voice, therapeutic lyrics, and magical way with melodies. A Vinyl Cafe regular and winner of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest (folk), Reid has recorded with Cowboy Junkies, Samantha Parton (Be Good Tanyas), Sarah Harmer, and members of Blue Rodeo, and is well known for his compelling covers of everything from Elvis to Leonard Cohen. Performing alongside his saucy wife and songwriting partner Carolyn Mill they are a little Johnny and June meets Fleetwood Mac and all about the songs.
BET Award nominee, Toya Delazy, 25, is the bright and colorful JEHP (a fusion of Jazz, Electro, Hip-Hop and Pop) Singer/producer and one of the biggest names in the current South African music scene. Pianist, producer, rapper and singer-songwriter Latoya Buthelezi known as the dynamic Jazz-electro-hip-pop phenomenon Toya Delazy, has made her mark as one of the finest performers to break new ground in the South Africa’s burgeoning music industry. At age 9 she began to train in classical piano, and attended Howard College’s Jazz program in Durban in 2009. Due to her exposure to different influences, from Amy Winehouse, Lauryn Hill, Skrillex, Radio Head, Kings of Leon to Black Eyed Peas, She pieced together teh different nuances, performing around Durban’s pubs with her keyboard and beatboxer, before being scouted by Sony Music Africa, and performing at the Africa Concert in Johannesburg in 2011.
Toya eventually signed to the label and released her debut album “Due Drop” in April 2012, raising the bar to fresh, new heights. With more than 1600 radio plays and 400,000 Youtube views, her first single “Pump It On” dominated across the country’s Top 40 for 16 weeks and beyond, with the iconic video, propelling the track into viral status across Pan-African channels, including MTV Base, Trace TV, Channel O and OkayAfrica. The “live life to the fullest” concept behind the track prompted Reebok to recruit her as a brand ambassador in 2012. With following singles “Heart”, “Love Is In The Air” and “Are You Gonna Stay”, Due Drop soon reached Gold Status and got Awarded as Newcomer of The Year, Best Pop Album and Best Produced at the 2013 South African Music Awards and, the same year, received a BET Award Nomination for Best International Act. After 200 dates Tour across Southern Africa, between 2012 and 2014, Toya also appeared as guest on X-Factor, Idols and opened for Paolo Nutini and Ne-Yo during their African Tour.
In 2015 Toya released their 2nd album, titled “Ascension”, with hit singles “Foribidden Fruit” and “My City”. The album propelled Toya to international levels, headlining at the Apollo Theatre NYC, Scoping Best International Song Award at the 2016 Out Music Awards held in New York with Forbidden Fruit and recently headlining a SOFAR Showcase in London. With the growing international appeal and hoping to connect to a wider audience, Toya Delazy moved to London and release ‘Luv My City’ in the UK, a song originally written in 2014 in South Africa as ‘My City’ featuring a local collaboration. The song topped charts locally and attracted some airplay in the US. The song was rereleased in London in November 2015, keeping the original production, boosted with a hooky rap verse, and peaked at #6 on the UK Music Week Urban Chart.
Posters is led by singer songwriter and adventurer Tom Copson. Crafting his songs and vocal talents for many years, in 2015 Tom decided to start a blog about his travels to run alongside his shows and performances. The music and adventures come under the banner of ‘Posters’, and all involved are excited about you embracing both. With a new EP in creation, and trips into nature soon to be documented, please join the journey.
