Tonight we have an evening of great live music from:
London based singer/songwriter Chris Reardon generated quite a buzz in 2014. After releasing several singles and quickly gaining the support from BBC Introducing, BBC 6 Music, Amazing Radio and highly respected tastemakers Record Of The Day; in 2015, Reardon was nominated for Best Male by Best Of The British Unsigned and garnered a strong reputation for his intimate live performances and his penetrating songs belying his youth.
After an exciting year recording new material, Reardon will be releasing his first single Bends on the 25th April 2017.
Reardon is an artist with an exceptionally unique and exciting sound and a strong contender for 2018’s “ones to watch” list. He has been likened to artists such as Ryan Adams, Gregory Alan Isakov and John Mayer; a blend of blues folk rock inspired by his love of the late 60’s.
Flossie is a modern jazz and soul singer, accompanied by keys, guitar, saxophone and drums, performing a slow-grooving, easy listening collection of original songs.
Makers are a 5 piece band based in London. Michael, Chris, Tom, Chris and George having been writing their material for over a year and after recording their unreleased E.P, are warming into playing the live scene.
‘Emerging over the last year from the acclaimed four-piece Saturday Sun who’s ‘Seagull’ single has had over seven million plays on Spotify, Alex Hedley has spent his time since crafting a stunning set of evocative songs that recall the likes of John Martyn. He himself cites the like of Nick Drake, Jeff Buckley and early Pink Floyd as influences, but Hedley has now more than confirmed his early promise as a truly unique artist in his own right for the present and beyond.’
Meet George Brown is the storytelling-indie-folk output of London-based, Malaysian-born songwriter, George Brown. Her self-titled debut EP was crowdfunded through Indiegogo last year and during its 30-day campaign was one of the best performing projects in Europe, blitzing its target and becoming an ‘In Demand’ project in the process.
Combining influences of Californian sunshine and the Laurel Canyon golden era of the 60’s & 70’s along with more contemporary indie folk, Meet George Brown’s songs are anecdotal gems with one foot either side of the Atlantic.
Meet George Brown’s music is also underpinned with elements of Spanish guitar techniques, cultivated whilst living with the cave-dwelling gypsies of Southern Spain, and deft fingerpicking developed by perpetually busking around London. Open guitar tuning and layered three-part harmonies gives the music a signature accent.
Busking alongside the Regents Canal over the past summers helped George refine her songs depending on how they fared on the tarmac, this is where her trademark uplifting melodies and sound began to emerge.
The busking led to a residency in a Camden Town café, which got her noticed by producer Felix Macintosh, who swiftly became a mentor. For the final EP recordings, George’s songs were pieced together at Felix’s Tigersonic Studios bringing in drums, bass, electric guitar and keyboards from additional musicians (including label signees of Beggars’ Banquet) who now form George’s live band.
Songwriting inspiration is drawn from SoCal artists like Joni Mitchell, Crosby Stills and Nash, James Taylor, The Eagles alongside more contemporary bands and artists like Ray Lamontagne and The Tallest Man on Earth, transporting the listener from London’s grey hue to the sweltering vistas of Lookout Mountain Avenue.
Meet George Brown’s debut EP will be released on 7th April 2017.
