Tonight we have an evening of great live music from:
Sally Archer is a singer-songwriter and illustrator from London. She has been singing and writing all her life… having crazy opera singers for parents will do that to you. She also studied Illustration and Animation at Kingston University and enjoys drawing squiggly naked ladies (amongst many more serious things, of course).
Once, before performing a gig, Sally was asked for a biography. Sally asked her band for ideas and this is what they came up with:
“Sally has a really nice sister called Grace”
“Jonny the bassist is really handsome”
“Will is a ten in a band surrounded by fives”
“Sally regularly asks for quotes about herself for bios”
Afraid of Everything are a female led 4-piece from London, with influences ranging from the Riot Grrrrl scene to Joni Mitchell and Pink Floyd. Though they often play cheerful and high energy pop/punk/alternative music, it’s always with a subtext of impending doom.
Alex Pw is a London-based singer song-writer from Birmingham. He got the music bug when destiny dropped a lonely left-handed guitar into a charity shop. Alex PW caught it and gave it a good home. His distinctive flavour of acoustic folk-pop spans classic songwriting like Dylan, Cohen and Martyn and to the best of modern RnB such as Frank Ocean and The Weeknd, creating a sound described as ‘restlessly exciting and dynamic’.
Right now he is playing his songs to audiences across London and Brighton night after night, building up a rabid fanbase ahead of September studio recordings for a full album set to be released by the end of the year.
Alex PW has played in venues such as the Yardbird (RIP) in Birmingham and Proud Camden in London, as well as touring Thailand and Taiwan, playing to adoring crowds who came to see him night after night. He plans to keep touring and building up his fanbase to spread his philosophy of ‘we can get to heaven if we realise we can’ and ‘fighting for life every day’ from his songs ‘We Can’ and ‘The Hint of a Spark’. Too many people live their lives in cages. He wants you to fly free of those cages.
2017 and 2018 looks set to be thrilling years for this exciting, dynamic performer who’s coming to a gig new you soon.
Dariush’s voice evokes shades of John Mayer, Paul Simon, James Taylor and Michael Jackson, his sound is deeply soulful. A searching musician, his songs masterfully combine his influences of pop, R&B, soul, jazz and folk into a style that is truly his own. Dariush is currently gigging regularly in London and writing songs since his move to the capital from his home city of Leeds last year.
