Having released three albums under her own name in Australia and Japan, Sydney born Briana Cowlishaw is a passionate vocalist, songwriter, arranger and performer that has been hopping between Sydney, New York, South Korea, Singapore, Norway, Canada, Europe and New Zealand since 2008. Now based in London (since 2015) exploring the UK scene, Briana has taken an exciting demarcation from her jazz roots, bringing a new project to light – the electronic indie pop-infused ‘Fetherstone’.
The new sound is a result of a collaboration with producer and London native Harry Tarlton (Kobalt Music Group, Sonny, Chi, Tom Misch, Stooshe Mic Righteous) and draws both inspiration and sonic flavours from the likes of Lianne La Havas, Frances, Vallis Alps, Fleetwood Mac, Mura Masa, Little Dragon, Laura Mvula, Oh Pep! and The Staves. With the first single release kicking off Nov 2016 (‘Don’t Look Back’), the EP has seen one track released each month from April through July 2017, showcasing the new electronic direction and putting her delicate yet powerhouse vocals front and centre.
Briana’s passion for storytelling is unquestionable, sharing attempts to unravel the mysteries she is surrounded by day to day; moving on, letting go, growing old, the struggle for kindness, the search for belonging, being a woman… a creative woman…the list could go on! On stage, Fetherstone is known for mesmerising audiences using an effects loop pedal, percussion and electronic drums while she sings her swooping melodies and tells her reflective stories. Briana’s emotive honesty is consuming and her willingness to be real, intensely present, is what sets her apart.
Briana has performed worldwide under her own name since 2007, including the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, VIVID Sydney, Urbanscapes (Kuala Lumpur), The Edinburgh Jazz Festival, The Hemnes Jazz Festival and The Chilpo International Music Festival (Korea). Since 2016, Fetherstone has been hitting stages around London with recent shows at Ronnie Scott’s Upstairs, The Troubadour, The Half Moon, The Road Trip Bar, The Bedford, Acklam Village Market and The Islington. Briana recently travelled back to Australia to release the new Fetherstone EP in her hometown, Sydney, as the first steps to getting the Fetherstone international tour on the road…next stop Europe and the U.S.!
With a music video on the way and a new single due out early 2018, Fetherstone is only starting to show what she is truly made of.
Horses On The Beach are made up of five soulful geezers, who just aim to jam out on stage and create tunes for fans who want to simply get down, bop and dance to some beat-driven, funk-inspired tunes.
Distinguished by haunting vocals and emotive sounds, Zoë Phillips is a vocalist and songwriter from Hertford. Now performing with a full band, her piano-based approach can nod towards the likes of Birdy and Rae Morris. Her music has previously appeared on BBC Introducing and BBC Radio 1 Xtra, whilst live performances include Glastonbury festival.
