Tonight we have an evening of great live music from:
Jennifer was born in Basildon, Essex, to a family with strong musical heritage – both her parents, grandmother and great grandmother were all accomplished singers. With this ancestral inspiration abundant in her formative years, Jen quickly discovered she too had the gift and began nurturing her innate talent through dedicating hours of practice, under her mother’s training. Often, three generations would be gathered around her grandmother’s piano, as Jennifer strived to perfect her technique.
Live performances soon followed as did audience appreciation. Picking up Brian Wilson as an admirer who personally asked Jen to sing with him, after hearing her in concert. Further teen solo performances followed at both The Royal Albert Hall and the O2. Quickly Jen was gathering an audience, with a sell-out headline show at The Hippodrome Theatre, Leicester Square, under her belt by age 20, and more recently, shows at The Other Palace, St Pancras Old Church, and the Portsmouth Guildhall.
Having grown up with music from a different generation, Jen’s style takes influence from the likes of Karen Carpenter and Barbra Streisand. Her timeless, magnetic performances emote so powerfully to her audiences, like the greats she admired, you’d be fooled into thinking she has more experience than her 23 years.
14-year-old singer/songwriter Amber Titchener has been performing at local Open Mic’s events since the age of 8 when she taught herself to play the Guitar/Keyboard & Ukulele! Her love for singing has led her to perform at the World famous Metropolis Studios and more recently at the UK’s biggest Music Industry network event by Notting Hill Music at Tileyard Studios in London. As well as being the youngest artist to ever perform there, her performance led to offers of work with a plethora of top Producers and songwriters. Consequently, Amber is now in the studio co-writing with top artist/songwriter Conner Reeves, songwriter Darren Alboni (Ella Henderson) and top producer/songwriter Reece Pullinger ENV Music (David Guetta/Axwell), undertaking writing and recording sessions. She just recorded for Wurd Sessions on Youtube and has 3 upcoming festivals to perform at having recently been one of the main artists for East Court Live event in West Sussex.
Melbourne born, London based singer-songwriter Andy McGarvie has dedicated a vast majority of his years to music. He started out learning piano, moving on to drums, guitar and then quickly thereafter, developing his penchant for song writing.
Andy kicked off his collection of awards early, by winning the Young Songwriters competition at The Apollo Bay Music Festival (Australia) at age 14 (a festival where he first showcased his original music at age 11). Never one to rest on his laurels, he has achieved many other accolades in the years to follow. Andy was a finalist in the Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society ‘Blues Performer of the Year’ in 2014 and in the same year also found himself a spot amongst the finalists in the prestigious ‘Vanda and Young Songwriting Competition’, for the song ‘Any Other Way’.
Andy released his debut solo album, ‘Not Soon Enough’ in 2016 to critical acclaim. It includes the aforementioned song as well as singles ‘Entertainment’ and ‘Something Mysterious’. The album, and Andy’s music, has been described as sounding “like John Mayer, but if he had more funk and Heavy Rock influences; or maybe like Neil Young’s backing band being Rage Against the Machine; or like Gary Clark Jr backed by Toto. It’s emotive, pensive, adult concepts put to the fire of youthful rock and roll. It’s the thinking-man’s pop music.”
Andy has played not only all over his home country, but in fact all over the world as both a solo artist and a session player in countless other bands.
A highly accomplished musician, Andy is an artist whose lyrics tell the tales of heartbreak and loss and take you to beautiful, haunted places, and yet whose guitar keeps you firmly planted in the sticky-carpet style rock and roll bars of the world.
Later in 2018, Andy will release his as yet untitled second record.
Music is deep in her blood. Toronto based LIZ LOKRE grew up singing in church and winning music competitions across North America. Her father booked live rock music in his native Dublin while her Trinidadian mother travelled the world as an Indian dancer.
LIZ LOKRE has been paving a sonic path that is uniquely her own along with producer, guitarist and main collaborator Adrian X (Drake, The Weeknd, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Kylie Minogue, Leona Lewis). Together they’ve drawn on a love of R&B & international pop elements, adding LIZ’s voice to what’s become known as the “Toronto sound.” Look out for LIZ’s EP scheduled to be released later this year.
