8.30pm – LAURA EVANS
Laura Evans is a Welsh singer songwriter from the South Wales valleys, known for her captivating soulful voice, story telling lyrics and pop country melodies. Laura’s love of country music took her all the way to Nashville to write, record and release her latest EP entitled ‘Remember When’
She has managed to wow the stars such as American Rap superstar ‘Drake’ who became a fan, after seeing her perform live in Los Angeles and then inviting her to sing for his Mums birthday party. Laura spent time co- writing songs with members of the hugely successful band ‘Magic’. Many of her songs can be heard on the popular CMT channel and in all Caffe Nero stores across the country and she presents a weekly music show on ‘Keep It Country’ for SKY TV. Laura won over a crowd of 1400 welsh fans when she supported popular UK country band ‘The Shires’ in concert at Chepstow Castle and performed alongside an incredible lineup of Nashville’s finest artists at the Country2Country Music festival at the O2 arena in March. She recently recorded a session for Sir Bob Harris’ ( bbc radio 2) ‘Under the apple Tree’ sessions and is looking forward to releasing new music in 2018. Laura is also an actress and recently filmed the title role of a young Tammy Wynette in a biopic about the country stars life story, made by ITV.
This singer-songwriter, who has recently appeared on the London music scene after moving from the Midlands, draws influence from a wide range of styles and eras. Expect a unique blend which showcases an obvious love for jazz, soul and the quintessential songwriters of the 70s.
Jake Morrell could have come straight out of Nashville, or even from the Californian sunshine, as his music suggests; but Jake is from Norfolk, England! Jake was ‘discovered’ by Dermot O Leary, who featured him on his Radio 2 Show. One influential listener just so happened to be Glastonbury boss Emily Eavis, who immediately asked Jake to perform at the iconic festival.
“It’s great to see Jake Morrell flying the flag for British country music” – Dermot O’Leary, BBC Radio 2
Jake recorded his debut single with London based producer Brett Shaw (Florence & The Machine, The Kooks & Dry the River). The song entitled “Wire and Thorns” reached No.2 in the iTunes country charts on the first day of release. This led to Jake being invited to perform at this year’s Country 2 Country festival, London’s Country Music Week and being invited out to Nashville.
Now working with several top industry writers including the Grammy-winning writer/producer Kipper (Sting, Gary Numan), Jake’s songs and sound are attracting attention by all who listen.
With a gig history that reads like a road atlas, Jake and the band have truly honed their craft and always leave you feeling joyous and wanting more!
