Tonight we have an evening of great live music from:

Music has always been a part of Tim Brooks’ existence, it just took him 26 years to find out how big a part it would play.

Raised in a Christian household, in a sleepy town in Oxfordshire, with a core group of friends, and a schedule that would include a regimental meeting at 7pm on a Friday down the pub to talk about not much at all. If a rough, chaotic background was one end of the spectrum, Tim Brooks was sleepwalking on the other.

University and city jobs followed, ever more forcibly shoe-horning him into a pathway for which he was never a true fit, it was at this point that Tim dusted off a £30 acoustic electric, that he had acquired from “…possibly the dodgiest and most crooked shop in Southampton, they didn’t have a till, just a big bundle of cash”. Gaining traction through the Hertfordshire open Mic circuit, a path trodden by the likes of James Bay and Alex Francis, he found that not only could he belt out a cover with the best of them, but that his voice was raspy, loud and aggressive. In the world of the smokey, Strongbow stained seats and the tall tales of the locals, you stand up and you make noise, otherwise it will eat you alive.

A particularly horrific break-up was the tipping point, a situation where “…the only thing you hate more than each others’ guts is the fact that you wish it was like it was before..”, and Tim Brooks was left with no ties, and limited commitments. The songwriting started.

Initially a tentative process, he started to feel most comfort in writing about his past and present situations, and how he saw the word from his own perceptions, and how he had lived it. Stories of late night wine fuelled conversations on El Masnou beach just outside Barcelona (Mary-Jane), were mixed with musings on astronauts (The Ballad of Tim Peake), and heart wrenching accounts of personal guilt at playing puppeteer to a previous interest’s feelings (Gone).

A move to London coincided with shows at some of the capital’s best venues for singer songwriters, including The Bedford, The Fiddler’s Elbow, The Half Moon, Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club and 93 Feet East, as Tim Brooks’ music drew praise from crowds and fellow musicians alike. The music video for his debut single Suddenly was filmed and released in February 2017. The summer saw the release of his debut EP Amateur Cartography, a ragtag of full band rock and roll, and folky vibes. A rigorous schedule of gigging continued, with small show

Lucy Warr is a London based but countryside born 24 year old singer-songwriter, with broad music influences ranging from Nina Simone, Jimi Hendrix, Regina Spektor to Bonobo… Her quirky style compliments the original sound which is being developed through an electronic vibe with heart felt lyrics and harmonies. She is currently working in the studio recording some of her tracks, writing and releasing new songs each week on YouTube and regularly gigging around London.

Hege is a Norwegian singer/songwriter of sophisticated, soulful pop based in London. Influenced by artists such as Katie Melua, Emeli Sande and Adele, she stands out as one of the most interesting up and coming artists today.

After having graduated with an Acting degree during which she studied musical theatre and singing, Hege embarked on further vocal training studying both classical singing and opera.

Later she decided to focus on becoming more expressive through creating her own unique musical style. The remodelling of her voice has resulted in a new and powerful raw sound, which sets her apart from other artists.

Hege sets the bar high for new, influential music with her graceful lyrics and melodies, reflecting the themes of self-power and acceptance.

Her music has been described as unique and her voice has been said to ‘cut to the core’ of the listener.

Her debut single ‘Ocean’ is out now!

Having grown up close to nature, Swedish Singer-songwriter Malin Andersson’s songs reflect the sound of the wilderness and honest Scandinavian simplicity.
Her style of gentle finger picking guitar playing mixed with contemplative lyrics and evocative melodies has gained support outside her homeland, resulting in her move to England. Heralded by the leading Swedish Industry representatives SKAP, Malin’s debut album ‘Follow’ comes highly anticipated.
