Banat started learning the harmonium at the age of five with “Kirtan” being amongst the other semi-classical musical education she was imbibed with. Her involuntary harmonium lessons as a child, stirred her interest but it was her first encounter with rock music, that pushed her to take up the guitar a few years later. Having grown up in a traditional Punjabi household, recent chain of circumstances pushed her to go back to her roots and rediscover her art. A shift from her usual music style, as she embraced her culture she carved another alcove of experience which has intensified her range as an artist.

Her work been featured on Rolling Stone India, FilterCopy, Free Press Journal among others. She was also named one of the top 10 budding female artists to watch out for by Rolling Stone India.

She is an avid animal lover and often draws inspiration from her pet cats, who are her muse for several of her compositions.”

“The use of syncopated rhythms, ambient vocals, unconventional harmonies with a dub sound are similarities found in both of Tajchman’s singles, a sound comparable to the likes of James Blake, Chet Faker and SBTRKT. His sound is however very unique, innovative and distinguishable” – We Plug Good Music

Isolated and misunderstood by his peers as a kid, Andre creates his own world through arts and music and learns piano by himself. At the age of 12 he can play classical pieces by ear. His admiration for artists like Billie Holiday or Nina Simone finally gets him into singing and songwriting around the age of 16.

He moves to the UK and starts taking inspiration from modern artists like The xx, James Blake or Moses Sumney, teaches himself music production and starts performing regularly in London. Andre works with the artist management agency Downtown Artists for two years and releases his first two singles. He then decides to release some songs independently, which start getting published on several blogs and AirPlayed on many radios – including BBC Introducing.
