8:00 PM MERCY LEE

Growing up in Yorkshires countryside, with a small and tight-nit group of friends, singer-songwriter Mercy Lee lived far from the glitz and glamour of London. Hailing from Howden, East Yorkshire her values and influence are taken from the place and the people she grew up with. It’s hard to believe she’s only 21 years old when you hear how her intelligent lyrics give a personal take on relationships, mental health, and the everyday difficulties people face.

Sonically, Mercy started out on an acoustic guitar, taking influence from John Martin and Bon Iver to Paul Simon and Fleetwood Mac. As she matured personally so did her sound, to become grittier and more driven as she fell in love with the likes of PJ Harvey, Jeff Buckley, and Sam Fender. Early releases from Mercy are driven by big guitars and big drums, perfectly mashing together the lyrical and melodic storytelling of her earlier writing and all the modern characteristics of a timeless rock and roll record.
