Balham Music and Beer Festival
This September the Balham Beer & Music Festival is back!
Showcasing over 50 beers and ciders from South London’s budding brewery scene against a backdrop of emerging musical talent, this will be a Sunday session with a difference,
You can meet and greet the brewers in our Ballroom as you listen to five acoustic sets in our Cocktail Bar. Alternatively adjourn to our Club Room, pint in hand, where there will be a line-up of five different top-notch bands.
You can even win beer-tastic goody bags worth over £150 in total. Simply buy a £1 raffle ticket on the day to join in the fun!
Ticket holders are also welcome to enjoy our extensive range of other alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks should they not be pint aficionados. We strongly advise you to break up the beers with our fab food menu which will be available all day.

Voodoo Junior creates a unique blend of lyricism and soulful sounds, witty and playful at times, but heavy and pain filled in others, almost always bringing a smile to your face and definitely getting you up and dancing. Other moments, more tender, a blend of energy from track to track. A four piece trying to produce more than the sum of their parts, but trying just as hard not to take themselves too seriously. It’s tricky to define the sound of these friends from London, but our journey is from singer songwriter via funk, reggae, soul through to rock. Or something like that. It’s for you to make your mind up, call us what you want, seeing is believing. Voodoo Junior functions so that every soul who listens close, might have a sweet remembrance and a vitalisation.

CLUB ROOM 4:00PM SOUTH BY ZERO
South By Zero is an indie pop band that formed in 2020 originally with duo Matthew Bawtree and George Burton. The talented pair kicked off their musical journey at BIMM Manchester in 2021. SBZ released their debut EP ‘Between These Walls,’ a poignant exploration of teenage relationship struggles and the complexities of coming of age. In early 2023, they welcomed former solo artist Emma Halpin into their ranks. This addition proved to be a game-changer, as Emma seamlessly integrated with Matthew and George, contributing to a series of pop singles that captivated listeners throughout the year. Notably, their track ‘What You Started’ gained significant traction, earning multiple features on BBC Introducing Kent.

CLUB ROOM 6:00PM WHITE GATES
The White Gates Band are an Essex based band that was formed in the summer of 2022. The band members are Jessica Richardson on vocals, Ryan Heather on bass guitar and keys, Oscar Ball on lead and rhythm Guitar and Tyla Brooks on drums. They provide a high energy show featuring original rock / pop music. Their main influences are Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Paramore. They continue to write original material and at the moment they are in the process of recording their first set of songs for release this year. It’s an exciting time for this up and coming young band as they spread awareness of their music to audiences across London and Essex, whilst continuing to create and develop their unique sound.

Lovelady is duo comprising the ingenious. Caitlin Van den Bogaerde and Ollie Clark. Hailing from the south of England, their songs have captivated audiences worldwide. With influences ranging from rhythm and blues, soul and country to Flamenco and Latin.
Caitlin’s soulful vocals effortlessly compliment Ollie’s mastery of a range of instruments, creating a unique sound that resonates with music lovers of all ages. Lovelady’s music transcends genres, finding in itself a beguiling and compelling mixture of nostalgia and originality.

CLUB ROOM 10:00PM ISABELLA COULSTOCK
From playing a live Under The Apple Tree session for Bob Harris at just 13 years old, Isabella has gone on to perform at iconic London venues such as The Bedford in Balham, The Half Moon in Putney, The Troubadour and a stunning headline show at the Green Note in Camden. She has performed at The Black Deer Festival, Cornbury Festival, Cambridge Folk Festival, The British Country Music Festival and Pub In The Park.
Isabella has recently been on tour supporting ‘THE WHO’, where she gave an incredible solo performance at the O2 Arena and continued with the band at Derby, Durham and Brighton.
Previous to that she supported acclaimed, New York based singer songwriter Nell Bryden, on her 2023 UK tour (twelve shows).
Isabella regularly supports Jools Holland on his summer and winter tours and has been doing so since she was seventeen and this continues for the 2023 seasons.
She has been featured on BBC radio and Countryline radio stations and has many songwriting collaborations and credits to her name including a title track for an upcoming new film.

COCKTAIL BAR 3:00PM MATT McCLAFFERTY
Hailing from Hertfordshire, Matt McClafferty is an undiscovered gem with an extraordinary voice and heartfelt pop anthems that tug at the heartstrings.
His shows are a ‘cathartic’ experience, telling his stories in ways that cut straight to the core, leave a lump in your throat and a tear in your eye. Tastemaker Jodie Bryant (BBC Introducing) said, “He will stun any crowd & I can’t wait for what he does next!”
Matt’s musical journey got off to a promising start when BBC Introducing (Beds, Herts, and Bucks) aired an early bedroom demo. Since then, Matt has been stunning audiences in intimate venues across London.
In May, Matt released his single “Inner Peace,” which has caught the attention of tastemakers including Kerrie Cosh at BBC Introducing Three Counties and Northants, Jodie Bryant, Sam Shiner, and UpNext.
Matt McClafferty is a rising star not to be missed.

COCKTAIL BAR 5:00PM MATTHEW FALLOON OF THE BAND SMOKE FEATHERS
Matthew Falloon is the frontman of former EMI-signed band Smoke Feathers. Uncut magazine compares Matthew’s songwriting to classic artists such as Jackson Browne and Paul Simon, while R2 magazine described Smoke Feathers’ debut album as “exceptional” and “breathtakingly beautiful”. His latest album – World Without Belief – was co-produced with Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor and recorded by award-winning engineer Shuta Shinoda (Spiritualized, Ghostpoet).
