C Jam is Swingland’s weekly Tuesday night swing dance and music club at renowned venue The Bedford in Balham, South London – learn with experienced professional teachers and dance to top swing DJs and monthly live bands.
C Jam is London’s longest running weekly Lindy hop club night – we’ve been at The Bedford on Tuesday nights since mid-2000.
“Swing” describes both a genre and method of playing music, as well as a group of dance styles generally danced to that music. At Swingland we focus primarily on the swing dance styles from the 1920s to 1950s; from Charleston to rock ‘n’ roll, but especially Lindy hop!

6.45 – 7.45pm Beginners class
For those new to swing dancing the evening starts with drop-in classes aimed to make those first steps as straightforward and enjoyable as possible. Covering all the basic steps and rhythms of Lindy hop. No experience required. Rotate partners (no partner needed) or stay with fixed partner – your choice.
7.45pm-8:45pm Improvers/intermediate class
Learn the (Lindy hop) fundamentals, no experience required, pre-book or just turn-up.
8.45pm-11pm Social dancing
After the classes it’s dancing time – swing out to the very best recorded music from the 1930s, 40s & 50s. Newer recordings are also played – provided that they really do swing! Last Tuesday of the month is normally our live band night and not to be missed.
