Join Dane Baptiste as he workshops material for his new show Bapsquire. Original, provocative and exceptionally prolific, Dane is one of the hottest names in British comedy, rapidly becoming a household name. He made history in 2014 as the first Black British act to be nominated for a comedy award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. His first two shows met with acclaim and phenomenal demand. Dane took his smash hit third show G.O.D. (Gold. Oil. Drugs.) on a massive world tour. During the 2020 lockdown Dane created, wrote and starred in Sunny D, the first black sitcom to be commissioned by the BBC in 20 years. His 2021 pilot Bamous, celebrating Blackness and Britishness, aired on BBC1 to a huge popular response, charting in the Top 10 comedy TV ratings in the week of its release. In the same year his Chocolate Chip Tour launched to critical acclaim with shows ongoing.

Dane’s numerous TV credits include Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, The Stand Up Sketch Show, Black, British and Funny, Frankie Boyle’s New World Order, Roast Battle, Live from the Comedy Store and more.

Banana Cabaret is delighted to bring you our 10th critically acclaimed Balham Comedy Festival from Friday 8th – Saturday 16th July.
It’s 9 nights of choice standup comedy – celebrity and household name acts, rising stars and comedians’ comedians, first-timers and festival favourites, solo shows and special guest appearances – there are shows to satisfy every comic taste, all wrapped cosily in the round at our beautiful venue.
There are two or three acts on each of the solo show dates. The rip-roaring Best of Banana Cabaret shows each feature five superb comedians and a special guest will bring the festival to a glorious close.
Balham Comedy Festival 2022 spans nine nights and features an amazing twenty-eight comedians, performing in our home of 39 years, the Bedford’s iconic round Club Room where Banana Cabaret has hosted the likes of Eddie Izzard, Jack Whitehall, Sarah Millican and Joe Lycett.
The festival is presented by Banana Cabaret – one of London’s longest-running premier comedy clubs – loved by comics and audiences alike and always one of the best lineups in town – and is co-produced by Banana Cabaret’s Dave Vickers and award-winning comedian John Moloney.
EARLY SOLO SHOW: Doors: 6.30pm / Show: 7.30pm – 8.30pm. Guests to be seated by 7pm. Online booking only.
