THE SMOKING MIRRORS

Completely different individuals that you’d never think could be in the same room, let alone in a band! Their passion for music has united them and their music evolved from folk-rock to indie pop/rock genre that will get you bopping and nodding (and maybe even dancing) as you relate to the songs they’re busting out.

Humour, heartbreak, worldly observations, and even “ghosting” are amongst the many tunes listeners get to journey as each song tells a personal story.

The band has been hard at work to complete their album so make sure you’re not missing out on the chance to preview this electric and energetic band!

Zak

The co-founder of the band, Zak Dajani plays the guitar and shares songwriting duties. After his degree in psychology, the lure of guitar strings was too strong.

Goodbye Dr Zak. Hello Rockstar Zak!

He’s gigged in such venues as Ronnie Scott’s and is currently also playing in the new rock band Viridiann, and with Gigi Monrose.

He spends the rest of his time acquiring more guitars than anyone really needs.

Joe

Joe is the band’s rock star drummer. A multi-instrumentalist musician and songwriter, Joe is recently working on his debut album of original music with rock, soul, and pop influences. He is a sound designer and composer for theatre and media.

When he’s not rocking and rolling, he’s busy figuring out what other musical instruments he can buy and add to his “small” collection.

Duncan

Duncan D Bruce an original member/co-founder of the band is the bass guitar. He founded Regents Park Recording studios where such luminaries as The Buzzcocks, Ian Dury and The Sex Pistols recorded. His second single release as an artist was on the international label EMI and was a BBC record of the week.

He runs a Global Brand Inspiration Agency but his taste for bass and Harry Potter has not diminished.

… as his ‘ring tone’ will testify.

Alexa

For vocals and songwriting, we have Alexa!

Lex has been singing even before she knew the words to the songs. Born in Cebu, Philippines, she certainly brings that island vibe of cheerfulness to the band. She’s performed in festivals and gigs all over and is a new member of the band alongside Kazu.
If you want to get into her good books, don’t even think or joke of mentioning, “Alexa, play this.” Otherwise, you’re on your own, buddy!

Kazu

For the dulcet tones of keyboards, Kazu is the man. He started playing piano at 6 years old. Studied with Janet Nicolls, Venera Bojkova and Valentina Seferinova. Took part in masterclasses by Benjamin Zander, Jonathan Plowright, and Martino Tirimo. Performed at numerous venues in London, Edinburgh, and Dublin as soloist and member of the Marcel Sinfonia. This is his first time in a non-classical setup and is very excited to be performing with the band.

Kazu is very keen on fine food and wine and loves traveling.

NATHALIE MIRANDA

Nathalie Miranda is one of those rare gems…a full-fledged, soul belter with a 4-octave range. Notable for her unique, soulful voice, and high-energy performances, this artist is definitely a force to be reckoned with.

The voice and energy is distinctly Nathalie Miranda – the UK’s answer to the US Uber Divas.
This diminutive singer experiments with different styles, refusing to be defined by a genre or by industry standards. From the synth stylings of ‘Red Light’ and ‘Poltergeist’, to more recent offerings of rock-inspired ‘Battle Scars’, and the epic ‘Catch-22’, Nathalie touches on the music that has inspired her and adapts it to her own inimitable sound.

Her new track ‘Is This Love’ is scheduled for a February 2022 release, and the word on the street is that it is completely different from anything she has ever recorded before.
