8:00PM JON MAGIDSOHN

Jon writes songs that reflect the music that consumed him in his Toronto youth: 70s and 80s classic rock with strong melodies, superb musicianship, and iconic vocal performances. His piano-based compositions inevitably evoke comparisons with Elton John, Billy Joel, Joe Jackson, and Dennis DeYoung. His debut album, A World Without Corners, was released in 2020.

‘Inhabiting a world that sounds adjacent to the soft-rock of 70s California and more contemporary versions of that timeless sound, there’s a conviction, sophistication and depth to Jon’s tangled songs and voice.’

– Martin Aston, music journalist

Jon is also the author of the memoir, Immortal Highway, and the poetry collection, Conversations On A Raft.

8:30PM MITCH SANDERS

Mitch Sanders describes the heart of his community in Bristol with his debut single ‘Garden of England’. Celebrating life, love, togetherness and the boundless possibilities of it all, Mitch’s music creates a cinematic realm full of rich storytelling and acoustic-to-electronic production. His sound can transport you right from the heart of his city-escapades of youthful abandon to the rugged landscapes of his family heritage in County Mayo. Working on construction sites pre-pandemic, at home with his guitar, Sanders digs into his emotions, into feelings of vulnerability and fragility, and turns them into strengths. Dedicating prose to the people, places and things in the southwest that mean the most to him. Having made a name for himself locally through powerful word-of-mouth live performances, over the past couple of years, Mitch has been honing his craft and finding his voice, working alongside the likes of Declan McKenna, Flyte and his producing partner Catherine Marks (boygenius, Foals, Wolf Alice) on his debut body of work. Today, Mitch launches his first single, ‘Garden of England’, a deeply felt homage to the community and connections that made him – and that still bind him together, and keep him whole. Written in the summer of 2023 with the Flyte duo, the track is a rippling, coming-of-age storm that introduces the world to exactly who Mitch Sanders is.

“Garden of England represents my love for my hometown, family and friends. I want this song to show that real life, although it can be hard at times, is beautiful and happiness can be found in those simple things. It pays homage to the people who have surrounded me my whole life.” – Mitch Sanders

Realising the power in the resilience to push forward no matter what life throws at you, “I don’t believe in this idea that everything has to be perfect. Humans fuck up, so don’t worry about it,” is his world view, “be as real and transparent as you can be.” This summer Mitch will be setting out for a run of live shows across the country, just him and his electric guitar. Having recently supported Jerub on his UK tour, Mitch will be heading to Liverpool Sound City, Dot2Dot Festival and Isle of Wight Festival with more to be announced. Passion and power, grit and graft, truth and beauty: welcome through the doors of the vivid musical world Mitch Sanders has been painstakingly building, beat by beat, brick by brick.
