JODY BLOUNT
Jody Blount is a songwriter from Derby who has been penning tracks since the age of 9. Inspired by the likes of Buddy Holly, Elvis, and the Everly Brothers he set about writing his first song titled ‘You were meant for me’ with no idea of love or relationships but an obvious passion for music and lyrics. Tracy Chapman became a huge inspiration in his writing throughout the early 90’s until artists like David Gray, Damian Rice, and Ray Lamontagne came on the scene to name a few. Jody’s songs come from the heart, are about real-life experiences, and will take you on a short journey through his over smoked voice creating a warm comforting sound. Jody only began singing to his own music live after 2010, as a means to get his songs heard. He released 2 E.P.s (still on SoundCloud) and started to write with other artists too. Signing a management deal to write in 2011, and singing at Sheffield City hall he then went on to gig locally around the Midlands. In 2019 he released his independent album titled ‘Rise’ A virtually unheard album that has received so many plaudits and praise from all that have heard it. Jody is now currently writing with up-and-coming local artists, and is riding his own wave of creation with the soon-to-be-released ‘Fear The World’ track and video, this is a look into personal mental health created by extreme grief after losing a son last year suddenly.
