8:00 PM EMMA HUNTER

Emma Hunter (vocals, guitar and loops) and Tom Bruce, (drums) enjoy exploring the world of David Lynch and dark, flamenco inspired music in and around the Oxford gig circuit. Emma and Tom create emotive, 1950’s-Flamenco inspired guitar with layered loops and complex, harmonious vocals in an evocative, cinematic soundscape. Atmospheric, dramatic and a little bit dark, with percussive, trip-hop inspired drums and strong, intricate melodies at the heart of it all. Together they create a unique sound which transports you away.

Emma Hunter is an experienced singer and songwriter. She was chosen to play in the Bob Harris Presents on the main stage of Truck Festival and has performed in several festivals and venues in her previous bands. Emma is especially inspired by artists such as PJ Harvey, Imogen Heap, Dick Dale, Ennio Morricone, and Portishead as well as bands like The Shangri-Las, but is particularly influenced by the soundtracks of David Lynch films. She takes a lot of inspiration from the myths of ancient Mexico, flamenco, cinema and catholic imagery and has channelled her influences into creating dark music videos to accompany their music. She has often been compared to Anna Calvi and Sharon Van Etten. Tom Bruce is an experienced drummer who spent much of his youth playing percussion in orchestras. He is highly in demand, due to the percussive nature of his playing, and consequently plays in several bands in Oxfordshire. Tom is influenced by bands such as Radiohead and Blur. Emma and Tom Bruce, have been performing together since March 2019 and have since played on the main stage of Truck Festival, at Cornbury Festival and at The Oxford 02 Academy and other Oxford venues. They have also performed in London. Their new single Morire, is out on the 16th March 2023.
