WAF: Remaykit

The Remaykit Fashion Show, a highlight of the Wandsworth Arts Fringe 2025, will showcase the incredible talents of local sewers, knitters, and menders who are transforming discarded clothing into stylish, sustainable creations. This event will take place at The Bedford in The Ballroom, doors open at 1:30pm.

As a taster of what’s to come at the event, we have:

Annie, in her 1970s bedsheet dress made from her husband’s ex -wife’s bedsheets!

Jane, who has ingeniously made a skirt using old silk ties.

David with his upcycled denim jacket of 25 years, its worn edges contrasted by a new collar, made from the remnants of an old evening coat.

There will be several businesses who are creating wonderful upcycled pieces and making upcycled fashion into a serious business.

From dresses reimagined as skirts to jackets made from fabric scraps and jumpers upcycled with intricate embroidery, this vibrant event will highlight the power of creativity to give clothes a second life. Come support local fashion artists and the environment.

In a world where fast fashion has become one of the largest contributors to the climate crisis, the Remaykit Fashion Show presents a refreshing counter-narrative. Local artisans are challenging the environmental impact of overconsumption by reusing materials, upcycling garments, and offering a sustainable alternative to buying new. The fashion show will feature the stories behind each upcycled piece—whether it’s a cherished heirloom textile lovingly restored, or a thrifted item transformed into wearable art. These stories underscore fashion’s potential to be not only personal and meaningful but also environmentally responsible.

Our models, representing a wide range of ages, sizes, and ethnic backgrounds, are all members of the local community. Some of our makers are not professional designers but passionate individuals who bring imagination and resourcefulness to their craft—proving that anyone can contribute to a more sustainable fashion future.

Remaykit is an inclusive event open to all, regardless of skill level or experience. Whether you’re a maker, a model, or someone who wants to help run this volunteer-led show, we invite you to join us in this fun and creative celebration. We welcome everyone who wants to be part of this movement for a more sustainable fashion world.
