7:40 PM MONÉT

From Peckham, South London, Monét began to write poetry at the tender age of 8, when she got her first taste of performing whilst showcasing her skills in primary school talent shows. Over the past few years, Monét has been studying journalism at university. Right now, her focus is now on honing her craft, tapping into the creative bubble of South London, and making music. Growing up with synesthesia, she uses her relationship with colour to her advantage, allowing tones to produce feelings and help direct her creative process in and out of the studio. She describes her music as warm and wants to invoke these feelings in the listeners; this obsession with colour is showcased through all her visual work.

8:30 PM NATE JAMES

Nathaniel James Speas, known as Nate James, was born on 15 September 1979 in Lakenheath, Suffolk, England. He is an English singer-songwriter who has left an indelible mark on the music industry. Nate James’s music career is a testament to his extraordinary talent and dedication to his craft. Since bursting onto the scene in 2005, this British sensation has sold over 1,000,000 albums internationally, solidifying his position as one of the most successful independent soul artists globally. His debut album, “Set the Tone,” is a testament to his unique style, heavily influenced by classic soul artists like Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder. With its live band funk sound, the album earned Nate three MOBO nominations and the Urban Music Award for Best Soul Artist. Nate recently regained ownership of the recorded masters of “Set The Tone” and there are plans to re-release this highly successful debut in a Deluxe form for its 20th anniversary, including b-sides and unreleased tracks, with a focus on the UK, Europe, North & South America, and Australasia markets to further extend the album’s global reach. Nate’s live performances are equally impressive, selling out numerous shows at venues like the Jazz Café in London and participating in events like Fruitstock 2005. He also won the Festivalbar in Italy in 2006, a prestigious singing competition held in important Italian squares during the summer. In 2007, Nate James released his second album, “Kingdom Falls,” which was entirely self-funded from the profits of his debut album. This album featured a live orchestra on many tracks and explored more studio-based production. The title track, “Kingdom Falls,” was inspired by Nate’s experiences on a charity mission to Rwanda in 2006. The album received critical acclaim and earned him the Urban Music Awards for Best Album and Best Neo-Soul Artist.

Nate James’s career continued to soar, with performances on the BBC show “Later… with Jools Holland” in February 2008 and a North American tour in spring 2008. He even headlined the outdoor stage of the Montreal Jazz Fest on 4 July 2008, performing to a massive audience of over 120,000. Nate is currently gearing up to finish and release his third studio album, “In My Skin.” This new project delves into the themes of love, loss, and the trials of life through beautifully crafted songs, spanning from anthems to lullabies to all-out party jams. Writing collaborations on the album include Mark Hill and Michelle Escoffery, with the full album being produced by Mark Hill. Throughout his career, Nate James has been in high demand for live performances, and headlining festivals in Italy, Germany, Holland, Belgium, France, and Japan. He has also had the honour of touring with and supporting some of the industry’s biggest names, including the late Amy Winehouse, Simply Red, John Legend, Beverley Knight, and Chaka Khan. Nate James is not your typical vocalist; his music is a treat for the world’s ears, and he remains a force to be reckoned with in the music industry.
