8:30 PM TOOTAWL
A looming presence in every sense, Tootawl’s music is frank, forward and rich with emotion. Christened ‘too tawl’ due to his height whilst gigging in Nashville, the name stuck, and upon his arrival home to Ireland he began working as Tootawl. Playing his own bustling brand of contemporary folk and blues, inspired by the likes of Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Donovan and Loudon Wainwright III, Tootawl fuses his Irish-ness with these titanic influences.
Now based in London, he released his debut self-titled LP in June of 2020, which was called “an excellent debut” by Hot Press, and Ben Blackwell of Third Man Records called it “wonderfully strong, Dylanesque.” In May of 2022, Tootawl released his second LP, a concept album called Roger Fenton’s Wagon, which was recorded at home during the various lockdowns. It is currently selling healthily on beautiful gatefold vinyl. Now, he is writing and recording in preparation for a third album.
