LIVE AT THE BEDFORD PRESENTS: SYRINX
Join us for a phenomenal evening with SYRINX!
SYRINX is a new contemporary choral project based in Vauxhall, South London. The choir enjoy singing a wide range of music and exploring a curious repertoire. Medieval chants, pop bangers, environmental protest songs, new choral compositions, urban shanties & Finnish herding calls.
The 50+ voices of SYRINX have sung in some amazing spaces from the Union Chapel to Brunel’s Thames tunnel, and alongside incredible artists such as Katherine Priddy, Ana Silvera & Alice
Zawadzki. The choir’s name SYRINX comes from the vocal organ of birds. In Greek mythology, Syrinx was a beautiful nymph who metamorphosed into a reed from which Pan then made his
panpipes. Claude Debussy, Benjamin Britten and several other composers have written works inspired by the character Syrinx, and that beautiful bird-like sound.
