8:00pm SUMMER BANTON

Summer Banton is a 22-year-old R&B singer/ songwriter, hailing from southeast London. Leading with creativity and a passion for her craft, with the greats such as Amy Winehouse, Beyonce, and Alicia Keys remaining strong influences, Summer’s entrance onto the UK R&B scene is an exciting and refreshing one not to be slept on. Growing up in South-East London with a strong presence of Reggae influences, it was this musical environment and a family connection with legendary artist Maxi Priest that would go on to fuel a passion in Summer to become an artist herself. Sharing a love for music with her cousin (Dirtbike LB, who is one half of BRIT Award-nominated D-Block Europe), the 22-year-old stayed on her creative path and nurtured her talent, resulting in her presence becoming known in today’s music and performance scene.

Went on to be selected by BBC Introducing as their ‘Featured Artist’, attaining A list playlist status on Rinse FM and achieving support from additional prestigious radio networks and tastemaker publications (BBC Radio 1, No Signal, Clash, GRM Daily, Guap Magazine, Girls Are Awesome, The Debrief and Mixtape Madness) it continues to be an exciting time for the star. With her first release of 2021 “Don’t Make Me Feel” setting the precedence for the year and went on to culminate over 70K streams, being featured on Apple Music’s editorial playlists (UK R&B, Breaking R&B, New In R&B) and receiving radio support from 1Xtra’s DJ Target and Radio 1’s Jeremiah Asiamah, Summer Banton will be one to watch this year.

Multi-instruments Abi Otway (Mandolin/Trumpet/Ukulele/guitar/vocals), Marc Otway (guitar/fiddle/mandolin/vocals), and Conor Magi (drums/percussion/vocals) are a group of musicians that have been working together on various projects over the past 7 years that have seen them play UK festivals, short tours in California , Nevada, and Austin, Texas. Formerly known as ‘Issimo’, they were joined by ‘Issimites Rose Perry (Saxophone/clarinet) Tom Sharp (Trumpet), Alex Chivers (Trumpet) Chris Bland (Keys), Elliot Roffe (Bass guitar), they released two EPs – ‘Walking On The Sky’ and ‘Coldest Queen’ and one studio album ‘The Adventures of Issimo’ all can be found online streaming platforms, music shops and Bandcamp. ‘Issimo’ brought a carnival of raucous sounds and stage shows inspired by Latin American and world music as well as reggae and ska.

In 2020 they began new songwriting adventures inspired by the Climate Emergency, Floods, Fires and Desertification, exploring organic acoustic sounds and strong vocal harmonies. Due to personal losses and other traumas that 2020 bestowed, the music is reflective, yet often hopeful.
