MUSIC WITH MEANING PRESENTS LIVE AT THE BEDFORD (feat. Special guest performance by Birdy)

We are excited to be starting live music back at The Bedford again however due to Covid-19 we have had to make some fundamental changes to the way the evenings run in order to make sure the environment is safe for everyone.

Tonight’s show is £32.93 everyone needs to book in advance – there is a ticket link below.

Sadly we have limited capacity and no ability for people to walk in and stand. Everyone is required to have a seat. There will be a full menu and table service throughout the night to look after you all.

For anyone unable to make it in person we will be streaming the show live (our 17th year of live streaming) via our Facebook page – www.facebook.com/thebedfordpub

Doors open at 7pm and we ask everyone to come early enough and stay long enough to enjoy all the performances as we are unable to use a table for other people if you arrive late, leave early or aren’t able to make it. Current guidelines only permit tables of six or two households or bubbles.  Thank you for understanding.

This evening we have live music from:

Special Guest Appearance by singer/songwriter Birdy

Hosted by Laura Westcott and Tony Moore

Minna is an upcoming Scottish folk singer/songwriter from the Scottish Borders. She has recently spent two years in Spain studying and performing various styles from Jazz to Cuban with a band of local musicians around venues in Madrid. It is also where she first picked up the acoustic guitar, and began to write her own music. Minna is now under the wing of renowned guitar William Lovelady. Minna is in the process of releasing her first two singles with a swift and sweet ode to her Celtic roots. Inspired by the traditional poetry and guitar stylings of an array of artists including Bob Dylan and The Corries and to artists with a more modern take on mood such as Bon Iver. Her soulful voice so sweetly runs like a Scottish river upon an experimental and moving folk sound.

Caitlin was born and raised in the new forest a few miles outside the seaside town Lymington. Her mother and uncle are both concert pianists, her father – a writer, and her brothers and sister – musicians and artists; she grew up surrounded by culture. Caitlin trained to be a jazz singer and got regular gigs at well-known London clubs and bars doing the classic standards and hanging around with incredible musicians and performers.

Inspired by everything from the iconic works of Amy Winehouse, Billie Holiday, and Aretha Franklin to the new and disruptive sounds of Pip Millet and Olivia Dean. Caitlin, 21, has become a skilled singer/songwriter described as ‘the Venus flytrap of soul and jazz with roots a mile deep’. Captivating on and off stage, she is known for being wildly musical and sharp-witted.

As well as being a strong vocal soloist, she plays flute, guitar and piano and can harmonise almost anything. She has written songs with Bruno Major (Lianne La Havas, MJ Cole) and Jimmy Napes (Sam Smith, Disclosure).

Aura (aka Laura Westcott) is a mental health campaigner and the founder of Music for Mental Wealth and Music with Meaning. She trained as a classical singer before experiencing anxiety and stage fright which spiralled into agoraphobia. Laura quit her aspirations of being an opera singer and instead joined the London Philharmonic Choir and worked as a reviewer and PR manager for The Times in London & NYC. Laura overcame her anxiety through mental health coaching and founded Music for Mental Wealth to help musicians before they have preventable mental health issues. Laura received a voice recorder for her birthday during lockdown and has created an album with composer Chris ‘Wood’ Marshall to help improve mental wellbeing. Fans include Joanna Lumley: “Aura is literally hypnotic. A beautiful and valuable contribution.” This will be Aura’s debut performance as she takes to the stage to perform her new soundscape for transformation ‘MetaMorphosis’.
