THE EAST END COMES SOUTH OF THE RIVER FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY: LIVE AT THE BEDFORD
We are excited to be starting live music back at The Bedford again however due to Covid-19 we have had to make some fundamental changes to the way the evenings run in order to make sure the environment is safe for everyone.
Tonight’s show is FREE entry, but everyone needs to book in advance – there is be a ticket link below.
Sadly we have limited capacity and no ability for people to walk in and stand. Everyone is required to have a seat. There will be a full menu and table service throughout the night to look after you all.
For anyone unable to make it in person we will be streaming the show live (our 17th year of live streaming) via our Facebook page – www.facebook.com/thebedfordpub
Doors open at 7pm and we ask everyone to come early enough and stay long enough to enjoy all the performances as we are unable to use a table for other people if you arrive late, leave early or aren’t able to make it. Current guidelines only permit tables of six or two households or bubbles. Thank you for understanding.
This evening we have live music from:
BOOK YOUR TICKETSWIMMINGLY
Swimmingly is the sweetly naïve moniker of East London indie folk singer/songwriter Mack Hofberg. Producing everything from his diminutive Hackney flat; the sounds of cutlery on plate and distant traffic bleed into his recordings, making them what they are.
Creating songs in relative anonymity until the winter of 2020, Swimmingly eventually saw his music recognised by one of music’s most significant platforms; with Spotify’s editorial team featuring his single ‘Fred Astaire’ on several of their largest acoustic playlists. Independently amassing 100K streams in the first 50 days of release alone, Swimmingly finally had an audience for his often-shy voice.
This significant feat, rarely achieved by unsigned artists, turned heads leading to support from radio and online press alike. East London’s reluctant new talent has drawn comparisons to the likes of Bon Iver and Ben Howard, but remains truly unique. With releases scheduled throughout the spring and summer of ‘21 – Hofberg remains intent on documenting his flaws, and to continue his catalogue of unusually candid singles.

DARRAGH CHAPLIN
Darragh Chaplin is a 24 year old alt-pop artist based in London. Drawing from his Irish folk background, Darragh’s interlaces his candid storytelling ability with creative and complex themes, weaving a unique narrative throughout his music that is both contemporary but familiar to the listener. Darragh is unafraid to confront himself and face up to his demons in his music, tackling topics like anxiety head first by blending poetic imagery with affronting realism in his lyrics. Drawing from real life experiences and his own personal struggle with self-acceptance and identity, Darragh finds confidence in his insecurity, channeled through an alt-pop sound blending captivating hooks and melodies with thoughtful instrumentation offering balance and drive.

DAN B. PATRICK
Dan B. Patrick is an Irish-Welsh singer-songwriter living in London. Dan has been playing music from a young age, playing his first gig in Belfast at 16, having been inspired by a wealth of Irish singer-songwriters such as Hozier, Damien Rice, and Foy Vance. Dan’s songwriting focuses on the most salient aspects of the human experience, covering love, loss, mortality and hope. He uses his powerful, soaring vocals as an effective tool for delivering his thoughtful lyrics. For Dan, the lyrics to his songs have to stand up as their own body of work, independent from the music to which they belong. Upon moving to London for university, Dan spent his next few years earning his stripes on the London gigging circuit, meeting other artists such as Maisie Peters and Etaoin, along the way. Before the pandemic, Dan played his first sold-out headline show in London and has also played gigs as far afield as Austin and Los Angeles. The highlight of his career to date was having the opportunity to sing with one of his heroes, Foy Vance, at a private gig in London. Dan is releasing his debut EP, “A Streak of Light” later in 2021.
