LIVE AT THE BEDFORD PRESENTS: ‘A SUNDAY IN SEPTEMBER 2023’
A SUNDAY IN SEPTEMBER is an all-day festival of progressive music that showcases some of the most talented and innovative bands in the genre, ranging from the classic 1970s era to the modern day. The festival is a celebration of all things progressive, from intricate instrumental passages to soaring vocal melodies, and everything in between.
MATT STEVENS 9OF THE FIERCE AND THE DEAD)
Sadly Andy Tillison has had to withdraw from the bill owing to an ear infection. However Matt Stevens will now be joined by Kev Feazey – also from The Fierce And The Dead – who are on a roll right now with the recent release of their highly-acclaimed new album “News from the Invisible World”. Matt and Kev will be performing an improv set so we don’t quite know what to expect! We know there’ll be guitar, we know there’ll be pedals, and Kev may possibly sing – whatever happens, we know it’s going to be great!
THE EMERALD DAWN have been making waves in the progressive rock scene since their debut album in 2014. With a sound that draws on influences ranging from Pink Floyd to Genesis, The Emerald Dawn combines intricate guitar work, soaring keyboards, and lush vocal harmonies to create a sound that is both melodic and complex. Their live shows are a feast for the senses, with stunning visuals and a powerful energy that electrifies the crowd.
THE ENID have been at the forefront of the progressive rock movement for over 40 years, incorporating elements of classical, rock, jazz, and folk, and characterized by grandiose orchestration and complex arrangements. Despite facing numerous setbacks and obstacles throughout their career, including financial difficulties and founder Robert John Godfrey’s brush with Parkinson’s disease, The Enid continues to create and perform music that is beloved by their dedicated fanbase. They remain a unique and innovative force in the world of progressive rock.
POLY-MATH take a more experimental approach to progressive rock. Combining elements of math rock, post-rock, and jazz fusion, Poly-Math creates a sound that is both challenging and engaging, with intricate rhythms and complex harmonies that demand attention. Their live shows are a sensory overload, with dizzying time signatures and mind-bending arrangements that keep the audience on their toes.
DISTRICT 97 are undoubtedly the most musically adventurous rock band in the world to feature an American Idol Top 10 Female Finalist. Since 2008, this quintet from Chicago has melded an adventurous, uncompromising instrumental prowess with the look, sound, and stage presence of vocalist Leslie Hunt. Through world tours and a stream of studio and live releases, the band has garnered a worldwide fanbase; Mike Portnoy (drummer of Dream Theater/Transatlantic) described them as “one of the most unique bands in modern Prog!” A fifth album is due this year, and A SUNDAY IN SEPTEMBER will be their ONLY UK SHOW!
A SUNDAY IN SEPTEMBER promises to be an unforgettable day of progressive music, featuring some of the most talented and innovative bands in the genre. Whether you are a die-hard fan of progressive rock or simply curious about this exciting and dynamic musical movement, this festival is not to be missed. So mark your calendars, gather your friends, and get ready for a day of incredible music that will inspire and delight you.
